Environment

The harmony with nature is fundamental at the Terras Altas (Highlands) Park and must be maintained with special attention to environmental sustainability. The concept of sustainability arises to develop, economically and socially, respect for nature. It consists on the rational use of the natural resources and avoids damage to the environment, willing its preservation for the next generations.

Located in an area of 277,457 m², with 54,000m² of Atlantic forest, the park has five springs, three lakes and a variety of stones - authentic sculptures of nature.

 

Sustainability Project:

 

STAFF

  • Staff training about environmental sustainability concepts;
  • Use of biodegradable and non-aggressive cleaning products;
  • Detergent dosage systems;
  • Cleaning systems with low water consumption;
  • Recycling and separation of inorganic waste (aluminum, plastic, metal and paper) in partnership with EMBA - Empresa Brasileira de Meio Ambiente; (Brazilian Environmental Agency)
  • Separate disposal of highly toxic waste (batteries, diapers, etc.);
  • Organic garbage recycled in composts, generating slurry and fertilizer that can be used in gardens and plantations;
  • Paperless procedures (documents and communications sent via email or whatsapp);
  • Use of recycled paper;
  • Packaging return Policy.

PUBLIC

 

  • Environmental care signage;
  • Water served in recycled and reusable glass bottles;
  • Trash cans all over the park;
  • Soap dispensers;
  • Reduction washers to all faucets;
  • Faucets with sensor;
  • Discharge with ecoflow.

BIODIVERSITY

 

  • Recovery of degraded soil using agroforestry systems;
  • Use of regional endemic plant species in gardens and reforested areas;
  • Protection and recomposition of water springs with soil-cement and vegetation cover in the adjacent area;
  • Products from the local organic farms;
  • Gray effluents treatments through the permaculture organic system;
  • Black effluents treatments and reuse through cesspool bio system.

 

ENERGY

 

  • Thermal blanket roofs;
  • Water heating by solar energy;
  • LED lighting and low energy consumption;
  • Energy Star Equipment.
